Directions on how to do something

Here's another way you can write a poem:
1. Think of something you're experienced at or really like doing. Start writing instructions on how you would normally do this activity. I find the less description you use, the bigger variety of the feeling of the poem (you'll see what I mean in a few steps).
2. Once you've finished your instructions, rewrite your instructions again, EXCEPT you cannot reference what you are doing directly. For example, if I were writing on how to swing a baseball bat and I wrote "Grip your hands on the bat," I would change it to "Grip your hands onto it." Okay, maybe that's a bit perverted but it's an example!
3. When you've done that, look at the instructions and try to think, "If I was a total stranger that was reading this for the first time, what mood would I get out of this poem?"
4. When you think you have your mood/feeling, title your instructions with that feeling. Then read it again with this mood in mind and see if it fits. If you want, you can try a totally opposite mood to what your instructions look like and read the poem in a completely different light. It's really cool!
5. Try out different titles until you have one that really sends out the mood of the poem. Tada! You have a poem!

I came up with something! (Yay me!)

Lines

The dark stream trails
On a landscape of white,
From a thin cylinder
Gripped by a hand.

This is the force of creation,
Curving and bending,
Dividing the boundaries
Of light and dark.

Shapes from lines
And lines from ink,
Form the picture.
This is creation.

Coming up with poems is fun when you're free to be creative, but torture when it's forced. *cough cough* English class *cough*
